THIS is TRAVEL - feeling good

Just moved from the CAVE to GOOYOGA - this trip just gets better and better - the place is sooo nice, like staying at a communal yoga boutique hotel.

Everyone inside the house is 5**** - really.
As soon as I got there went exploring the space and what a feeling when I reached the roof looking over the river and manhatan - speechless what can I say - I had such a good deep, pure filling of happiness, joy, peace, hope - clearly felt like I just stepped into a new phase of my life - that moment as I watched the tall buildings of Manhattan, feeling the wind on my body, earing the sound of the cars passing by,drinking my tea - it clearly felt the moment was so light, life passing by slowmotion in front of me- no weight, no pain, no doubt - just hope and peace.

A good moment. And after some movement (with all the mistakes on it, the indecision, slowly I am getting better in my body and truly now believe I have a journey to do in dance, with me and my body) - if everyone sees me as a dancer, maybe that is what I am supposed to be.

The end not being the goal - the journey holds all the meaning, and apart from success or not- the most important thing in present is to hold the power ofr my decision - I decide to pursue dance.

THIS is TRAVEL - upstate trip NEW JERSEY - autumn goldy leafs + apples + haunted

This is so good- thks for doing this Pham - is there any end to your talents ( cooking, fashion, photography, writing, philosophy ) ?

Pham put together a teaser of the day when we all drove out of NY to NEW JERSEY - to see the autumn leaves and into appleland

really, with no exaggeration this was a PERFECT DAY - trip, photography, explore, food and most importantly loads of human empathy.

how do you like them? from angela pham on Vimeo.

This IS FILM - OLD ENGLISH GIRLS SCHOOL - Life modelling

( My last post before NY - back soon with USA images hopefully)

Last week I posed for a drawing class at this amazing really old school for girls.
So fascinating the space - like old creepy stories, girls and ghosts.

I abs. felt in fascination with the dressing cubicle  -  a 1940s hospital style dresser cover.

Some photos.

slightly creepy - many doors - one corridor.

stairs up to class -  imagining girls running up and down - laughing, crying, fearing, happy.
place full of memories from time - so clearly, one can feel it in the body.

silence - austerity

Not and Exit

Forgotten reflection

Time to undress -  model changing area

Little mistake

The Nude clothes

new boots - present and future

THIS IS FILM - Cont. dance course at THE PLACE - with Gareth

I really, really, really like mondays
I have payed work, comt. class and tango pratica
a full day
leaving home 8.00 coming back 01.00 am

I am doing a cont. intro course at THE PLACE dance school
the teacher is Gareth
the class is really exciting -  with live drumming for tempos +   occasionally teachers ( nice) shout to instigate

makes your blood run
inside the body

and in the end of class I get to have the studio all by myself and practice a little butoh
and strength my leg -  moving floor and bar.

The mind is stronger them the body - saied the teacher
and help me a little bit with pirouette and BALANCE

I have to stop being angry with my body
and have hope

Gonna miss the class when in NY
but back in 3 weeks

how amazing is to have live drummer for the choreography tempo :))))
It really wakes up the body and mind

almost ready to start

the bar ... do far away memories
rehabilitating and remembering movement in the body

THIS is FILM - new portraits - 100 PEOPLE, 200 ANSWERS

Some latest addictions to my photo project -  100 PEOPLE, 200 ANSWERS

Registering some of the new people who passed by in my life in 2010
These are carefully selected - randomly - people that I undoubtedly notice.
and from them I collect 200 answers:  what is the MOST and LEAST important thing in life (?)

(Full story update on Mindthework - THIS is FILM - 100 PEOPLE, 200 ANSWERS).

Matt ( Atshushi workshop) ( Mildred photo did not came out - would like to shoot her again)

Palle

Astrid ( Jeremys wife)

Jeremy
( this is a cheat - I know Jeremy for 4 years - he cuts my hair every month -  another of the men of my life leaving :)) -  he swaps London for LA
So for Jeremy, a exception in the project: the person who left my life 2010

THIS is FILM - sculpture class wax n.3 - BLACK WAX - life modeling

These classes are always so interesting: the work, the people, the images, the sounds, the thoughts - I really have to make a effort often to concentrate in the pose - there are too many mental and visual distractions.

Because also maybe of the physicality and proximity of the space - other peoples space nearer mine- more difficult to remain isolated and disconnected, naturally  - one picks ups whats happening around.

French and English - how different.
Interesting.

I look forward to document / photograph the development of the body and pose building.
At the moment is really fascinating to see how each different individual -  has theyre own fingerprint in building the forms, understanding the movement and abs. fascinating in these earlier stages of the work is to observe the visual traces of the body building movement -  each person builds the body with a very different type of movement - hands and particularly fingers ( they are the brushes, the pencils, the pens).

Finally, observing the silent life of the figures itself
and how in theyre inanimated  silence they speak and habit the space ( lonely - after everyone vanished for tea -  the figures are left behind -  beauty/ loliness/ silence).

After the structure building - the wire of the movement of the figure
The filling work begins - layer after layer, piece after piece - adding, adding
the body begins
the movement is reenforced

The full story below -  difficulty in selecting shots
one of my fav. BW rolls lately.

THIS is FILM - sculpture class clay n.2 - CLAY - life modeling

Second class I am currently life modeling for - different media - different group -  different pose - different people.
Diferent.

Smiles, generosity beauty, tea and many, many cookies

Different.
Diversity.
Generosity.
Humanity.
Empathy.
Beauty.

A wonderful place to be.
More about people than work - perhaps.

Fascinated by the wax- black colour -  it looks so diferent
its a  hard craft - scultpure
nothing seems to be easy in it

And some other visual distractions, regarding the path to the class.
