Tango - rules and freedom

Tango basic rule - I was told several times: the man leads, the woman follows, the man  displays his female dance partner?
Also it was sayed Tango ( should) is a conversation between dance partners -  if so and the man only leads that would it not be more a monolog?
Monologs are boring.
Apart from all rules - wish I very willingly would like to put behing - Tango should be reduced to a pure, simple  feeling only, and the rule only one: to dance because of the pleasure of dancing.
Less rules, more feeling, more experiment - dance with your mind, dance with your soul.
