This IS FILM - Monday life modeling at S. Pauls Church

Monday evenings I regularly model at St. Paul Church ST. N. for a life drawing evening class for local artist. Its a very unique class and a very unique place. The master teacher J. is also very unique (in a good way of course) -  he is really a interesting character: indian britush (presumably) and ULTRA polite, even his voice tone is so polite you may think its a bit strange.

But these are always very nice, classes, the place feels like a home -  even if it is inside a very old, decrypting church. I notice lately (on the places I have worked), many old churches being converted into art factories -  finally a positive use for churches.

One thing you cannot fail to notice is the fact that the artist (fully grown adults) are forced to be squeezed in inside little children school tables and chair, given a drawing board - and there you go: drawn pls.

(I always have to make a effort to keep serious and not laugh while posing, when I see all these really BIG adult English people squeezed inside the children's school tables).

After, I desperately RUN to the Tango pratica until 23.00 -  and finally between 12.00 and 1.00 am my Monday day finishes.

Heres a short story of one of those evenings:

the slightly creepy entrance of the church

we could hear them inside the class, when they start to sing/scream : OH MY GOD (!)
( I had to laugh, how appropriate)

I love this place - so funny
the adult artist are forced to sit on the children desks and draw
(but I feel very at home - everything is my side - brilliant (!))

The california otter - how can we not protect nature (?) (?) (?)

A beautiful, heartwarming nature documentary on the endangered Californian otter : mom and pup who make a break trough on theyre traditonal evolutionary enviromeny by swapping the sea for a boat harbor to raise her pupp.

The otter mom, takes care of the pupp, lovingly  for 6 intense months, until the baby its ready to survive on its own.  There are olny 2400 otters in the wild in the USA.

How can ANYONE harm animals, gratuitelly (?) (?) (?)
How can we be allowing all our nature, animals, this immense source of beauty, love and identity being so fastly destroyed (?)

Cities are killing our humanity - and its so easy to find it again -  just look at nature.

peace and love

SKEETCHBOOK: the mind and the hand - images

I am deeply thankful for the ability and desire to draw. Its a wonderful, special, intimate connection I can keep on making between my mind and my hand.

Its a exciting, adventurous always enigmatic experience. I never know what I am about to drawn when I drop the pen on the blank sheet of paper. Like all creative process I ever experienced, it is always a discovering process that ends in some kind of revelation (mostly personal).

So drawing end up to be for me, personally not only a life/mind register, but also a great tool of self discovery, reviewing moments, being able to get back to them, and to have a greater insight of theyre meaning.

Thank you for the hands,
Thank you for the fingers,
Thank you for the mind,
Thank you for the images
and
Thank you for the desire.

1 - the fish hand tail
2 - bed space: a dark night that was full of light (exclamation vs interrogation)

1 -  things I dont like (some of it)
2-  the day Ultima came: erasing toughts and a straw inside drinking all of me (where are the good things now (?))

1 - the golden phone - why the phone now (?)
2 - giving and receiving motion

1- fated to listen to lies (feet trying to kick doubt)

1 -  why (?)  -  always the most important question

Different morning rituals

Different morning rituals -  the first things done in the morning.
They say to pay attention to the first impulses of the morning:

- what are the first toughts (?)
- the first desires (?)
- the first actions once you open your eyes in the morning (?)

It is said these to be most important things we value in life.
Pay attention to yourself in the morning.

Angela: asthanga + stretch
(must reach maximum mobility till October 2010)

M: morning cigarette + book -  siting on the kitchen dirty floor)
(typical of chaotic writter)

And I look at these moments and think how much they say about ourselves.

I remember now, I never understood why M. likes to sit on the kitchen floor, legs crossed like a little boy.

He always done this, since we moved in together - he would come into the kitchen while I am cooking and sit on the floor next to my legs, like a little boy -  it used to freak me out a little bit.

But now, knowing M. so well ( this hard to get Gemini boy/man) I understand why, and I find it beautiful and I am honored to be able to watch such beauty and vulnerability.

on my way home 2

This was such a amazing experience.
I got selected for a 100 collaborators group rehearsal on the turbine hall at the Tate Modern for  Bristish -German contemporary artist Tino Seghal.

He calls his work  "constructed situations", usually involving one or more people carrying out instructions conceived by him.

He is now collaborating with the Tate modern on a new project where he is being challenged to create a piece which works with people (humans) and the inhuman space relation between people and the enormous space.

The session questions was:
- how many people does it take to fill the turbine hall space (?)
- how can  inter-relation movement sequences fill this overwhelming space (?)
- how far can human sound fill the space (?)

It was such a  overwhelming, incredible, fantastic experience to move inside this space and to be a part  of this project.

Met a couple of familiar dance faces, it was nice to see Adam again.
And again many people coming to me and assuming I am a professional dancer (sometimes it can be a bit annoying)- dont know why people think I am professional dancer, or a teacher (?) (?) (?)

And them the classic question: what do you do (?)
Well, my answer remains:
- I dance, but I am not a dancer.
- I take photos, but I am not a photographer.
- I draw, but I am not a fine art artist
- I write, but I am not a writer

This leaves people a little confused, they dont know how to fit me in theyre idea of professional world.
Well, I dont have to fit
I just simply have TO BE.
Its enough

And I sayed,
career and success
I delete these two words from my life
they are dangerous

Life is good.
Life is generous.

Thank you.
